I am writing this reference letter on the behalf of Janet Arnold. I can recommend Janet Arnold as
a house sitter or pet sitter with the fullest confidence. I have known Janet as a “virtual friend” for
the past few years and it wasn’t until 2021 that we actually met. I asked Janet to house sit for my
husband and I from March 2021 to October 2021. We live on Whidbey Island and the biggest worry
about leaving the house is that whomever is watching it won’t be able to get the help they might
need because we are such a small community. But that didn’t phase Janet. Everything went so
smoothly, I never had to check in on her and she contacted me at the times which were
appropriate for the issues that came up. Including a septic tank alarm-no panic, she jumped in
checked with our neighbor used the house reference book for contacting the repair person and
worked with them to set up the billing to us for the service .
I had no reservations about sharing the secret code to our door alarm with Janet, she is reliable
and trustworthy.She always asked for permission if she wanted someone to stop in and visit and I
never had second thoughts about saying it was fine-I trust her judgement.
Upon our return we found the house as clean as we left it, if not cleaner. All our mail was stacked
up for my review and notes were left advising me of updates with the neighbors, and plants in our
garden. Not only did she water the flower garden, which is all we expected of her, but she went
above and beyond-she pulled weeds all around the yard; trimmed ferns; trimmed woody plants
and trimmed the high grass that our landscaper missed when he came to cut the grass.
I have very private neighbors who are hesitant to interact with someone who is not a resident of
our HOA, but they all warmed to Janet immediately. I think one of my neighbors would like to see
Janet move into the neighborhood. They took to her the way we both did-like an old friend.
I should be jealous that they took Janet out to dinner and lunch more than they have taken us out,
but I’m not. That’s Janet’s warm and giving personality. She’s trustworthy, smart and a great
storyteller and birder too. She loves nature and absolutely loves house pets.Ask her to show you
her blogs about the pets she has experienced pet sitting with, very sweet. If you want someone
who you can trust and rely upon while you are gone, you can’t and won’t find anyone better than
Janet.

I have known Janet Arnold for twenty years; her late husband was the Dean of Counseling at a
California Community College, where I worked as a counselor/instructor After I retired and
moved to Idyllwild, California, she occasionally visited, and our friendship grew closer.
Janet has dog-sat my two hefty dogs three times in the last four years. Each time it was for a
week or longer. She walked the dogs daily, fed them well, and earned their trust and affection.
One of the dogs is aloof with spurts of affection, and the other is overly devoted to whoever is
available. She managed to find the best in both and earned their trust and gratitude.
When Janet is available to dog/house sit, I know I can leave without guilt and return to a
clean, tidy home and two happy dogs. She goes above and beyond to care for the house and
garden while I’m gone. On one visit that didn’t include a house-sitting, she
helped me construct and paint an above ground garden enclosure!
Whenever I plan a trip, I hope Janet will be available to house/dog sit. She is always my first
choice, and I believe my dogs share the same sen@ment. In fact one of them may prefer her to
me, which is the best tes@monial of all.

To the lucky people who are considering Janet Arnold,
Our pets and plants have had the fortunate privilege of having Janet care for them several times. She has
developed a special relationship with my dog, Pancho, by taking him for special walks to some of his
favorite places. She has spent hours playing with him and snuggling with him. He wees with delight when
he sees her! Our three cats are each particular in their wants and needs, and she understands that fact. The
aQenMon mongers are sated, and the “look but don’t touch” is also respected. Upon our return, it is
evident that each has had their needs met to their liking.
Our plants are healthy and thriving, and Janet even does weeding, trimming, and garden
maintenance. It’s wonderful to be able to come home to things as if I had cared for them myself. There
are no worries about leaving things in her care.
Our wild bird friends are treated to extra snacks and delights. Janet’s joy of seeing these feathered
friends is evident and contagious. She has introduced us to new ways of luring them to our yard and into
our lives. I’m grateful for the new faces I now see.
You and your loved ones will be happy you invited Janet into your home and lives. She has certainly
handled things as if we were home and has made our times away absolutely stress-free.
With Janet there, you will not need to worry in the least. You will be lucky to have her.
