My wife and I are retired military (32 years each). No strangers to living out of a suitcase, our goal in retirement is to continue those adventures by becoming immersed into the local life/culture of wherever we land. Short stays in neighborhoods, away from the touristy hotels is one of the best ways to do this. The wife is very handy as she's rebuilt our bathroom and kitchen (I was manual labor). We have lots 2 cats and a dog (but we do not travel with them), plants and a large yard that we are rather proud of - so, we're not afraid of the work involved in keeping up a home. Retired from active business-started a renovation on my 1,800 sq.ft. home purchased in 2004 on Swan Lane in Las Vegas NV. Unfortunately, my long time life partner, Phyllis Dooley passed away in January 2023. As a result, I've sold my home and moved back to Calgary, Alberta to rethink my life. I had the honor of raising two gorgeous (inside and out) Shiba Inu Dogs. They were my Entire heart & soul. My girl dog's name is Karma Seiu & my boy dog's name is Zen Bennett. My life has forever been altered at their recent transition to the next phase. Karma left on 5-11-22 and Zen on 8-14-24. They were both 17 years old. Many people suggest getting new babies to help in the grieving process. I can not. I remember how difficult it was to go out of town and leave my beloved dog-kids in the hands of another "step-mama". I struggled doing that because of all the special details with food, walks, medicine, brushing, and overall love that Karma & Zen needed while I was out of town. So rather than get "new kids", I know that my greatest service to others is.... taking care of someone else's babies while they are on vacation or away on business.
